Speciosa are big nectar providers, attracting hummingbirds, bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.
For those of you from the West, this is the milkweed of choice for your monarchs!
Taller and leaner than other milkweeds, Showy milkweed stands out with its spikey grey-ish pink blooms! 90cm (36") tall. Can spread aggressively so plan to share or thin accordingly when planting in small gardens.
Growing: Sow outdoors in fall or cold stratify.
Start indoors approximately 2 months before last frost. Barely cover and keep moist and warm.
Transplant seedlings 12 to 24” (30 to 60 cm) apart.
Pro tip: pinch growing tip of seedlings 4 to 6″ (10-15 cm) to encourage more flowerings stems.
