Description

If you don't have this milkweed in your garden, you should! A good student, this milkweed is the most likely to stay put and get good grades! Incarnata excels at attracting monarchs, buckeyes, swallowtails, bees, hummingbirds, moths, and skippers!

The bright pink, fragrant flowers are a great source of long-lasting nectar. Your syriaca will be finished and the incarnata will still be in full bloom. Often a candidate for a name change, some call this plant swamp milkweed, pink milkweed, or red milkweed. Personally, I like swamps. Anyway... to 5 feet tall, with a bushy spread to 2-3" (60-90 cm)

Of course, like all milkweeds, incarnata can attract aphids... but hey, we can't all be perfect.

Culture: Sow outdoors in fall. Press gently to make contact with soil. Or, cold stratify necessary.

Start indoors about 2 months before frost.  Pro Tip: Plant 2 to 3 inches apart around the outside or back of the garden with good air circulation between plants to reduce the risk of aphids. Harvest seeds in September, before common milkweed.
